Sign up by e-mailing me at [email protected] BOOK BARGAIN: Borders gives us a good reason to start our holiday shopping early: a 20 percent off coupon for one item in stores. Get the coupon at www.insidesocal.com/bargain. Also good at Waldenbooks. Expires Oct. 2. Caveats: Excludes coffee, magazines, special orders, electronics and comics. Wii ACCESSORIES 40% OFF: Colored skins for the video game remotes, cables, a battery pack and other Wii add-ons are marked down at Meritline.com. Expires today. HANDBAG HABIT: Bag, Borrow, or Steal rents purses by the week or month and is offering 15 percent off for newbies. There is a monthly membership fee or you can pay a tad more, no strings attached. There are four categories of bags, each with its own pricing: Trendsetter, Princess, Diva or Couture Collections. Weekly rates for a gold bowler from MAXX New York are $6 for members or $20 for nonmembers. The same purse retails at Nordstrom for $148. Great if you want to experiment, try out a bag before buying or have something flashy for an upcoming party. Go to www.insidesocal.com/bargain for the code. LINCOLN LUNCH TACOS: In a pinch, I went to the chain Sharky’s for a quick bite. The menu did not have a lot of $5 Lincoln options, so I ordered two original tacos for $5.18 plus tax. I cut them a little slack on the price because they include a big bag of chips with every order and have a free salsa bar. My chicken taco was juicy and had plenty of chopped onions and cilantro, but it definitely needed salsa. And there was no lime!!! Overall, it was no match for the tacos from the stand near my house. I didn’t have high hopes for the grilled veggie taco since the chicken was bland. But it was surprisingly tasty and had the slightest touch of spice. My friend who thinks ketchup is spicy would cry for milk, but the rest of us will be fine. KITCHEN COUPON: Chefs Corner has a 15 percent-off coupon through Sunday. The online store carries all the spatulas, pans and gadgets you need to put a meal on the table. Go to www.insidesocal.com/bargain for the code. Free shipping on orders over $99. AIRFARE WATCHER: I don’t know that airfares ever drop after you buy your tickets, but if they do Yapta.com knows about it. Register your confirmation code with the online tracker and if your fare drops, they e-mail instructions to get a refund. HAUNTED INFLATABLES: While I do not condone huge holiday displays that make your neighbors wince, I see enough inflatable decorations to know there is a market for them. For your Halloween spread, Big Lots has an 11-foot inflatable haunted house for $129, which is $50 off the usual price. A similar, slightly more elaborate looking haunted house goes for $500 on Fright Shop. CALLING ALL BEACH BUMS: Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air are offering 15 percent off flights from Los Angeles International Airport to Los Cabos, Mexico. Cabo, baby, here I come!
