first_imgKOLKATA: The state Education department on Friday suspended the headmaster and the assistant headmaster of Daribhit High School in North Dinajpur. The stern action against the duo was announced by state Education minister Partha Chatterjee.The department has decided to conduct a departmental enquiry against Abhijit Kundu, the headmaster and Nurul Huda, the assistant head master of the school. The governing body of the school has been dissolved and the SDO has been appointed as the administrator. Also Read – Rain batters Kolkata, cripples normal life”The department had summoned the headmaster and the assistant headmaster of Daribhit High School to question them in connection with the violence over teacher recruitment that resulted in the death of two students. Their answers were not found to be satisfactory. Hence, we have decided to suspend the duo and they will remain suspended till the probe is completed. They have to prove themselves innocent otherwise strong action will be taken,” Chatterjee said. Also Read – Speeding Jaguar crashes into Mercedes car in Kolkata, 2 pedestrians killedA senior official of the state Education department said the school’s managing committee was continuing to work even after its term expired. “Hence, we have decided to dissolve the managing committee and the SDO will continue to act as the administrator till a new committee is constituted,” the official added. The Education minister also instructed to make arrangements for commencing classes in the school from November 10 onwards. The school has remained closed for an indefinite period of time since the incident. The minister has appealed to the parents to co-operate with the management of the school as studies have been jeopardized due to the closure. It may be mentioned that on August 20, two students Tapas Burman and Rajesh Sarkar were killed in firing during a clash that broke out over teacher recruitment at Daribhit in Islampur. The school has remained close since the incident. The district inspector of schools in North Dinajpur Rabindranath Mondal was suspended after it was found that there was no need of an Urdu teacher neither there was any vacancy but the school was in the process of recruiting a teacher for Urdu which led to the unfortunate incident. The state government has handed over the investigation of the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).last_img
