Press Association There is better news regarding Ecuador international Valencia, who has not featured since the 1-1 draw with Everton in early November. After being given permission to return to South America during his rehabilitation, the club are hopeful he will return to the field before the new year. The club added: “We are pleased to report that Enner is progressing very well and, should his rehab continue to go as planned, he has a good chance to play before the end of the year. He is ahead of schedule and we have been very happy with his progress.” West Ham should find out on Thursday the full extent of Diafra Sakho’s “significant injury” while fellow forward Enner Valencia could be back in action before the end of the year, according to the Barclays Premier League club. Sakho limped off during Sunday’s 1-1 draw against West Brom with a thigh problem and early reports suggested he would be sidelined for three months. An update on West Ham’s website read: “(Diafra) suffered a significant injury to his left thigh. He underwent a scan on Wednesday and will see a specialist on Thursday, when we hope to learn more and put a more certain timeframe on his absence.”
1 Argentina’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the 2018 World Cup campaign are in tatters following their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Croatia.Goals from Ante Rebic, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic sealed the resounding defeat for the two-time World Cup winners. It’s been a miserable campaign in Russia for Lionel Messi and co so far following their disappointing draw to Iceland last weekend. And Argentina will probably need a win in their final Group D game against Nigeria in order to prevent themselves from getting an early plane home.It was 0-0 at half-time in what was a tight first-half but the game turned on a moment of madness from Argentina keeper Willy Caballero. The Chelsea man tried a terrible flick in his own box which presented Rebic with a great opportunity to give Zlatko Dalic’s side the lead which was finished brilliantly. After that Argentina capitulated and went 2-0 down through a great strike from Modric before Rakitic teased the dejected defence before tapping home the third. And many fans on Twitter were quick to make fun of Caballero after his costly error.
